The sixth figure of the Mongolian hexagram in the book of changes: Striking at ignorance is not good for the enemy, but good for the enemy. It means to break the ignorance with strength, not to take the initiative to commit violence and excessive criticism, but to stick to the bottom line and resist evil, just like the needle and thread in the hand of a hand-made pet sweater knitter, which should not only decisively correct errors, but also guard the original intention.
Basheng: the way of error correction for manual knitters
There is often ignorance in the way of manual knitting. Wrong stitches, missing stitches and out of shape patterns are like ignorance and dilemma. To attack Mongolia is to decisively dismantle and reform and face the problem directly.
If the wrong stitches are not removed, the fabric will be distorted; If ignorance is not eliminated, skill will stagnate.
Manual knitters should be resolute but not impatient when dismantling and changing. As the words warned, they should not be bandits - they should not demolish the fabric blindly and violently, nor damage the fabric because of impatience, nor deny their own efforts.
The purpose of dismantling and reforming is to better knit, and the purpose of attacking Mongolia is to eliminate ignorance. Both of them are "integrity".
Li yukou: the craftsmanship of hand knitters
To resist the invaders is to hold the bottom line and resist the "invaders" who are impetuous and utilitarian.
Resist the "quick invaders": don't be greedy and perfunctory, pay attention to every stitch and line, and refuse to make rough products.
Resist the "utilitarian invaders": do not lose the traditional needlework to cater to the market, and do not save the key process for efficiency.
Resist the "complacent invaders": the skills are refined without limit, not trapped in the existing experience, and always maintain the "childlike" understanding.
The fabric in the hands of the knitter is the carrier of ingenuity; Attacking Mongol and imperial invaders is the principle to guard this ingenuity.
Short story of history: Meng Mu breaks the weaving and attacks Meng Shouzheng
During the Warring States period, Mencius was young and playful and neglected his studies. Meng's mother was weaving. Seeing his return, she picked up scissors and cut the half woven cloth. Mencius was shocked and asked why.
Mencius' mother said, "if I stop weaving, I will abolish the study of the son of Confucius. The study of the master of Confucius is well-known. If you ask, you will know. If you live in peace, and move, you will suffer far from harm. If you abolish it now, you will not be free from fighting and there will be no way out of disaster."
Mencius' mother's "attack on Mongolia" was not a harsh criticism of violence, but an extreme way to break Mencius' ignorance, so that he understood that learning could not be interrupted and abandoned, and resisted the "bandits" who were lazy and playful. Mencius suddenly woke up, and from then on, he studied hard and became a great Confucian. This is the wisdom of the sixth hexagram of the Mongolian hexagram: to break the ignorance with integrity, and to establish the foundation with protection.
Mongolian divination wisdom of handmade dog sweater knitters
For our hand-made pet jumper knitters, the sixth principle of Mongolian divination is the principle of lifelong practice:
In case of mistakes, we will "attack Mongolia", resolutely dismantle and correct them, and do not shy away from medical care;
Guarding the mind is to "resist the invaders", resist impetuousness and adhere to ingenuity;
What we knit is not only a dog jumper, but also a life of breaking through ignorance and keeping upright.
Every stitch is enlightenment; One tear down and one weave, all of them are upright. Only with the courage to fight Mongolia and resist the impetuous invaders can we weave a good product with warmth and ingenuity, and also can we make steady progress on the road of technology and life.
