The first lines of the hexagram Tun: Weaving the original intention in the midst of wandering

The threads are just gathered, the stitches are yet to be started. The beginning of hand-knitting a pet sweater always resonates with the situation described in the first hexagram of the Book of Changes. The hexagram text reads: "Hanging in the sky, it is beneficial to remain steadfast and righteous, and to establish a principality." The thunder first rumbles from below, and the water of the river obstructs from above. The difficulties of the initial creation of all things are just like our hesitation when picking up the first piece of wool - not because we are unwilling to start, but because we need to determine our direction and establish a firm foundation in our hesitation.

"Panhuan" represents the state of a new seedling being pressed by a stone, spiraling and struggling to advance, yet it is by no means stagnant. When knitting, if one hastily starts the stitches without clarifying the color matching of threads and planning the dimensions, the final product will inevitably suffer from messy stitches and require rework. The same applies to the beginning of entrepreneurship. Advancing rashly when resources are not yet prepared and the team is not yet united can easily lead to difficulties. On the first day of the month, we are advised to slow down, straighten out the stitches, and firmly weave our original aspiration. This "Panhuan" period is to accumulate sufficient confidence for the subsequent completion of the garment.

"Juzhen" signifies adhering steadfastly to one's original intention. In hand knitting, it represents maintaining the purity of handcraft, avoiding hastiness that compromises quality and not following trends to change style; in life, it means adhering to behavioral norms and not being disturbed by fickleness. The "Xiangzhuan" states, "Though the journey may be slow, the direction is right." Even if one starts slowly, as long as the direction is not deviated, every stitch counts and every step is solid.

Historically, King Wen of Zhou followed his father's legacy, establishing his foundation at the foot of Mount Qi. Instead of rushing to conquer and expand, he promoted agriculture, cultivated virtue, and welcomed talents. With a posture of "living in integrity," he took root and gathered strength, ultimately laying the foundation for the prosperity of the Zhou dynasty. Liu Bei, who had been wandering for half a lifetime, was not eager to seek credit when he temporarily resided in Xinye. Instead, he gathered popular support and built his foundation, waiting for the right moment to establish the Shu Han Dynasty. This is a reflection of "using nobility to humble oneself, thereby gaining the hearts of the people." For us hand knitters, "living in integrity" means focusing on polishing every stitch without rushing to achieve success; it means preserving the warmth of handmade craftsmanship, so that every dog sweater carries the essence of craftsmanship.

"Lijianhou" signifies "building one's own world" for those who knit. Based on the principle of "residential integrity", from choosing yarns, starting the stitch, to shaping and finishing, we steadily build our small workshop and enhance our reputation step by step. Guided by our original aspiration, we blend traditional needlework techniques with modern aesthetics, transforming handmade dog sweaters from "items for keeping warm" into "carriers of craftsmanship". This is our "Jianhou" - building a territory for handmade artisans, stitch by stitch.

Every thread has a beginning, every stitch has an end, and every endeavor faces challenges in its initial stages. May we, like the first hexagram of the hexagram of the hexagram, remain steadfast and upright amidst the turbulence, using the needle as our pen and the thread as our ink. Through patient effort, we weave a lasting foundation, ensuring that every piece we create embodies our original aspiration and strength.
